End of Summer Mini Collage

"Summer Heat"
4 x 4 inches
Collage on Watercolor Paper

Here is the summer collage that I mentioned in a previous post as to not liking it as much as the other seasonal collages I have done. They are not all successful, but I want to share them anyway. This one bothers me because I tried to give the upper sunflower a little extra dimension by placing a couple of circles of card stock beneath it so that it would look as though it were really standing away from the flower under it. I think the paper was too thin to achieve that effect. Maybe if it had been thicker, like the card stock beneath, it might have worked. Also, the sunflower cut-outs look pretty distressed...not sure I like that. Although, the summer heat sure makes me feel distressed, lol!

We took a walk this evening, Bella (my French Bulldog) and I. There was a light breeze and it didn't seem so hot when we first started walking. By the time we got home some 20 to 30 minutes later, we were both miserable from the heat. The breeze died down about midway home and by the time we got there we really dragging our feet. Oh, for the cool days of autumn! I am so looking forward to it.

I hope it's cooler in your neck of the woods. Have a great evening!

Autumn Leaves Collage

"Autumn Leaves"
4 x 4 inches
Collage on Watercolor Paper

In a few days it will be Fall, my favorite time of year. I'm looking forward to cool breezes, golden sunshine, and falling leaves...not to mention cooler temperatures. It is still scorching hot here, even after sundown. I'd love to take my dogs for an evening walk, but they can't tolerate the heat very well either. So I wait, and dream of the cooler weather to come.

The two leaves on the right are real, the one on the left is a fossil leaf...not sure if they are the real thing or not, but they look nice in collages. I bought a package of them online to use in my nature collages. They all look the same...same size, shape and they may not be the real thing. They look nice, though, and for me that's what counts. :o)

Thank you for visiting, and have a great evening!

Blue Mini Collage

4 x 4 inches
Collage on Watercolor Paper

Here is my final monochromatic mini collage. I'll be working with analogous and complimentary colors in the coming week. I have many projects lined up for the remainder of this month. I hope I can finish everything before October 1st.

Did you enjoy your weekend? I was happy to see the sun today. It was hidden behind clouds for the better part of last week. Sad to say we have rain in the forecast for most of the coming week as well (sigh...).

   Have a lovely Monday! :o)

Yellow Mini Collage

4 x 4 inches
Collage on Watercolor Paper

I love the color yellow. I used a dried viola in this one, just to see what would happen. I wasn't sure how the flower would look after it was pasted on, but it held up rather well. I have been using mod podge, the matte variety, and so far it has worked well for just about every collage material I've used. Can't think of any exceptions at the moment.

It's been a stressful week, waiting to see where Hurricane Florence would make landfall. It went ashore well north of us, but we are getting some wind and rain today...not too bad, though. I think the flooding was the major concern, but I don't see much evidence of it at the standing water in the yard or along the streets, etc.

   Thank you for visiting, and I wish you a pleasant...and dry...weekend. :o)

Winter Mini Collage

4 x 4 inches
Collage on 140# CP Watercolor Paper

I rather like how this collage turned out. I was really pushed for time and had to keep things simple...not as much layering as I usually do, but still tells the story, I think.

I hope you had a nice weekend and that your week is off to a great start. I'm looking forward to finishing up a few paintings that I've had in progress for quite a while now...they are on my 'to do' list for this week.

   Have a blessed day! :o)

Spring Mini Collage

4 x 4 inches
Collage on Watercolor Paper

This is my favorite of 4 mini collages I did last night depicting the 4 seasons. This one came the easiest to me, as I did not have any problem thinking of what I love most about and birds! Summer was hardest because all I can think of is the oppressive heat that we experience here in the southeast. How could I express that? I used hot colors...reds, oranges, yellows...but I think it was the weakest of the 4. I may have to do that one over again.

Thank you for stopping by, and have a great weekend! :o)

Abstract with Mandala

"Abstract with Mandala"
6 x 6 inches
Mixed Media on Hardboard Panel

This is a little experiment that I did so that I could try out a tube of  Pebeo cerne relief outliner paint. The abstract background is collage papers and some of the bleeding art tissue paper. After the collage dried, I stenciled on the mandala in white and went over it with gold relief outliner paint. I like the outliner paint. It worked well for this project. I have some silver and bronze as well but have not found a use for them yet. This piece reminds me of a hot summer day, which we are still experiencing here, but hopefully not for much longer.

Thank you for stopping by and taking a moment to look at my art. Have a great day! :o)
